My goodness it is September already. The summer weather took forever to arrive, but when it finally did it was with a vengeance. Everyone here hopes your garden and containers weathered the intensity of the heat that we received this year.

With the shortening of the days and the cooler evening temperatures, it’s time to think about “fallizing” your containers. We still have spaces left for our “Fall Container” class September 9 at 6:30. Lindy has been working up some beautiful combinations to help you refresh your basic container planting for the fall season. Give us a call (250 746 8734) to sign up. These evenings are always great fun and a wonderful place to exchange ideas with like minded people.

We are also offering once again our Christmas decorating class. This one was a great hit last year, with everyone bundling up and coming in to get inspired for the festive season. The class is scheduled for November 9 at 6:30 so sign up soon as it really is a popular evening and seating space is limited.

Speaking of Christmas, don’t forget to order your Christmas greens early so you won’t be disappointed. Our fabulous salal or boxwood wreathes and evergreen swags are locally grown and the freshest available. These greens are becoming more and more popular each year as the quality is fantastic.

But enough about Christmas, there are many things to tend to in the garden right now. Everyone probably has a bed that wasn’t quite “right” and this is a fabulous time to be planting in our region. So rather than making those changes in the spring, with the real possibility of not remembering that brilliant improvement, consider doing it now. The ground is warm and the autumn rains will help trees, shrubs and perennials to settle in before the first frosts.

This past season has been busier than ever at the garden centre and the compliments we have received on the displays and quality of plants and pots have made us proud. We are always sourcing the best products available for you and we like to think the pride and enjoyment in our work shows in our enthusiasm and service.
